Veteran cop Pete Malloy and his partner, rookie Jim Reed, rove the streets of Los Angeles in their LAPD patrol unit, 1-Adam-12. A spinoff of 'Dragnet,' 'Adam-12' portrays the officers' daily beat with gritty realism, from the tragic and brutal to the trivial and comic. During the show's seven-year run, viewers witness Reed blossom from probationer to full-fledged officer and Malloy earn the distinction of officer three plus one, just one rank below sergeant.

Ep 1: Log 1 -- The Impossible Mission

Malloy plans to resign at the end of shift due to the death of his previous partner but is assigned a rookie partner, Reed. Malloy decides the green Reed is worthy of his effort to train him, leading Malloy to stay on the job.

Ep 2: Log 141 -- The Color TV Bandit

Malloy and Reed learn of a serial home burglar stealing color TVs. They stumble upon the suspect's car with unusual results. Also, Reed must come to terms with his anger over a drug using mother that endangered her children to score dope.

Ep 3: Log 11 -- It's Just a Little Dent, Isn't It?

Reed dents the fender of the patrol car while putting gas in it and frets the entire shift about the impact of it on his career. Meanwhile they deal with a man who wants revenge against a woman who testified against his son.

Ep 4: Log 131 -- Reed, the Dicks Have Their Job and We Have Ours

Malloy teaches raw rookie Reed about the job that detectives play when a murder scene must be secured and turned over. Reed learns to be content with his role and responsibilities in a uniformed radio car when they arrest fleeing fugitives.

Ep 5: Log 91 -- You're Not the First Guy's Had the Problem

Reed's ability to focus on his job is put to the test when his close friend and fellow academy partner is critically wounded during a robbery.

Ep 6: Log 161 -- And You Want Me to Get Married!

After an evening at Jim's with his wife, Pete's girlfriend, Donna, is making marriage comments that has Pete running for cover. Mixed in with their calls is a domestic noise complaint Pete uses to support his bachelorhood.

Ep 7: Log 71 -- I Feel Like a Fool, Malloy

It is a shift of conflicts forcing Malloy and Reed to use their wits to keep control and make the right decisions end on a low note.

Ep 8: Log 72 -- El Presidente

Malloy teases Reed about calculating the cost of a new house while their first baby is still six months away. In the meantime they settle a domestic dispute between arguing neighbors and help a taxi driver who was just robbed as well as a local man mistaken as the president by a group of rural Mexicans. Finally, they must arrest a psychotic shooter holed up in his house.

Ep 9: Log 101: Someone Stole My Lawn

Reed wants an early dinner when his wife puts him on a low-cal diet. However, one after another events prevents them from going code 7 all night long. Events include the theft of a man's sod, stolen credit cards and a suspected car theft.

Ep 10: Log 132 -- Producer

Reed tries to pawn off his new litter of puppies to co-workers, strangers and even victims. The officers work a silent alarm, rescue a boy with his head stuck in a fence and track down a prowler.

Ep 11: Log 111: Snake In The Trunk

A ditzy young woman reports her 1958 Ford convertible stolen while she went into a liquor store. She left the keys in the car, has no paperwork, doesn't know the license number or other details but she needs it by 6 PM for a date. She finally tells the officers that her eight-foot boa constrictor is in the trunk as she was coming from the vet.

Ep 12: Log 61: The Runaway

Walters and Brinkman are on a roll lately and like to brag, much to the irritation of Reed. He and Malloy help them out by finishing one of their calls, then rescue a sick teenage girl and arrest the young man who took her in. Back on patrol, they meet an informant who gives them a tip on a big drug buy scheduled for 11 PM. They give the info to Sgt. Miller who asks them to help in the bust.

Ep 13: Log 122 Christmas: The Yellow Dump Truck

On Christmas Eve, Reed and Malloy make rounds distributing police department donation packages to needy families, and pull many heartstrings.

Ep 14: Log 81: The Long Walk

After roll call, Reed and Malloy provide backup at a robbery, help a lost man return home, handle a call about a prowler and respond to a silent alarm. Malloy demonstrates for Reed the importance of "officer presence."

Ep 15: Log 36 -- Jimmy Eisley's Dealing Smack

Reed and Malloy spot TJ, an informant, who tells them about a possible drug house. They spot a woman and girl at the same bus stop an hour apart. When they stop to talk to her, she tries to run.

Ep 16: Log 62 -- Grand Theft Horse?

The officers have to put with a mystery noise in the car while handling grand theft horse, a naive girl and a robbery suspect who makes fake calls to distract the police

Ep 17: Log 33 -- It All Happened So Fast

In a behind-the-scenes look at police investigations into deadly force incidents, Reed endures a night of intensive questioning by the station's lieutenant after he kills a man in self-defense.

Ep 18: Log 112 -- You Blew It

The shift starts with the officers talking about another officer's judgment. Little do they realize they will be facing the same problem several times during the shift.

Ep 19: Log 51 -- A Jumper - Code Two

The officers have one of those nights where they either have no calls or minor issues they can do nothing about. But at the end of the shift, Malloy must cook up a dangerous solution to a suicide jumper.

Ep 20: Log 73 -- I'm Still a Cop

While Malloy is attending college, radicals learn he is a cop. They reject him and antagonize him on the job. After helping arrest demonstrators, his new car is vandalized. When a timer is found missing, he locates and disarms a bomb using it.

Ep 21: Log 102 -- We Can't Just Walk Away from It

Malloy and Reed respond to a call about a drug overdose and track the drugs to a 17-year-old who has barricaded himself in his room with a gun and threatens kill himself. They contend with a distraught mother and an overbearing father.

Ep 22: Log 152 -- A Dead Cop Can't Help Anyone

Malloy tries to shield an impressionable Reed from Officer Ed Wells, a shoot-first-ask-questions-later style officer. Wells' reckless philosophy endangers his own safety when he responds to a sniper, forcing them to come to his rescue.

Ep 23: Log 12 -- He - He Was Trying to Kill Me

A "child-left-alone" call turns up a horrifying case of child neglect. A six-year-old girl is left home with her baby brother and both parents are unable to provide for their children.

Ep 24: Log 172 -- Boy...the Things You Do for the Job

After Malloy gives a gorgeous wealthy blonde a traffic ticket, she stalks him, affecting him and the police force. Although uninterested in her, Malloy is forced to "take one" for the job.

Ep 25: Log 92 -- Tell Him He Pushed Back a Little Too Hard

Malloy and Reed respond to repeated calls about an argument between two men and their wives over a boat they co-own. The feud escalates and ends with a fatal conclusion.

Ep 26: Log 22 -- ...So This Little Guy Goes into This Bar, and...

Reed hears a joke from Ed Wells before roll call, and then spends the shift retelling it to Malloy. The partners solve a mystery for a little old lady. Later, Reed needs to break up a noisy party hosted by an old school chum.

Ep 1: Log 15 -- Exactly One Hundred Yards

On their day off, Malloy and Reed agree to give a talk to a group of fifth grade students, and then offer to let the kids watch them train for the California Police Olympics. But when the tires of their patrol car are slashed and a stopwatch goes missing out of reed's car, the two officers start to suspect one of the children.

Ep 2: Log 153 -- Find Me a Needle

Malloy and Reed are on the lookout for the "Mulholland Mauler," who has raped six female hitchhikers and left them for dead. They quickly make an arrest of a likely suspect and take him to the location of an abandoned vehicle, after learning its owner never made it to her destination.

Ep 3: Log 52 -- Good Cop: Handle with Care

Malloy and Reed see a man passed out in an alley and stop to lend assistance, deliver bad news to a young wife, apprehend a mentally ill man who then becomes uncontrollably violent in their patrol car, and respond to a robbery that needlessly becomes a tragedy. All along the way the officers have their every move second guessed by a pair of young, unethical freelance journalists who are determined to document police brutality.

Ep 4: Log 23 -- Pig Is a Three Letter Word

Reed is shaken by a child molester and learns valuable lessons on controlling his emotions. They handle a potential dead body, father-son robbery team and a pair of black men who shoot a pair of store owners and try to create a race riot.

Ep 5: Log 83 -- A Different Thing

An older husband complains about his wife and friend's noisy karate practice. A hit and run traffic accident looks looks like a homicide. The officers use their investigative skills to locate the suspect and arrest him.

Ep 6: Log 103 -- A Sound Like Thunder

Malloy and his date join Reed and his expecting wife on a weekend trip to a ghost town, but soon they cross paths with a dangerous motorcycle gang.

Ep 7: Log 63 -- Baby

Reed's wife is in the hospital expecting their first child, and Reed soon regrets his decision to report for work as usual. Out on patrol, they encounter a drunken man directing traffic, chase down a robbery suspect, investigate the theft of money from washing machines and become involved in a minor traffic accident that results in a major delay.

Ep 8: Log 93 -- Once a Junkie

A former convict and informant who Malloy helped give a second chance is accused of assaulting a priest, dealing drugs and stealing a gun after being fired from his dish-washing job at Duke's Longhorn Café. Malloy and Reed set out to determine if his story, which is full of suspicious coincidences, is actually true.

Ep 9: Log 123 -- Courtroom

Reed feels a strong sense of accomplishment when he stumbles upon a large stash of narcotics as he secures a residence after executing a traffic warrant with Malloy and Officer Ed Wells. He's in for a rude awakening at the trial, however, when he's cross examined by the defense attorney.

Ep 10: Log 143 -- Cave

Malloy and Reed begin their shift responding to a disgruntled tenant who is holding his landlord at knife point. Later, they investigate a rash of property theft from multiple homes in a quiet neighborhood, stake out an apparent bag of laundry left on the side of the road and search for a runaway boy who gets himself into a life-threatening situation.

Ep 11: Log 142 -- As High as You Are

As Malloy and Reed's patrol begins, an uneventful traffic stop becomes more interesting when something catches Malloy's eye. Later, they discover an unusual situation responding to a break-in at a hospital supply warehouse, which becomes even more odd when the warehouse owner and a group of revenge-seeking thugs show up at the scene. The shift ends in a fitting way when they are called to an apartment where a baby has been left unattended with a pet lion.

Ep 12: Log 43 -- Hostage

Malloy and several civilians are taken hostage after he is shot and seriously injured by robbers while stopping for lunch at Duke's Longhorn Café.

Ep 13: Log 34 -- Astro

Malloy and Reed become envious of officer wells, who has been given a coveted assignment in the newly established astro helicopter division. Out on patrol, they require assistance saving a wealthy elderly couple who get locked in their heavily fortified basement safe, and then use air support to track down robbery suspects who escape on a motorcycle.

Ep 14: Log 14 -- S.W.A.T.

Malloy and Reed are the first to respond to a downtown rooftop sniper who has been indiscriminately shooting at anyone he can find with his scoped rifle. After risking their lives to get civilians out of his line of sight, they become lead participants in the S.W.A.T. team's attempt to neutralize the suspect.

Ep 15: Log 64 -- Bottom of the Bottle

Malloy and Reed see the same drunk twice in one night, respond to a bar fight and engage in a high-speed pursuit with good samaritans who make a bad decision. They also search for a biker who tries to coerce a woman to repay a debt by riddling her apartment with buckshot.

Ep 16: Log 54 -- Impersonation

Malloy and Reed hope to find an impostor as they investigate a boxing promoter's accusation that a police detective stole $350 from him. In the meantime, they deal with a disgruntled wife who is in the process of destroying her own car in the middle of a downtown street, investigate a gun theft from a pawn shop, drive up on a home burglary in progress and obtain critical information while interrogating a suspected car thief.

Ep 17: Log 24 -- A Rare Occasion

Malloy spends a weekend afternoon attending a barbecue at Reed's home, where Reed lets him hold his newborn son for the first time and tries to set him up with his wife's friend. However, their relaxation is interrupted when they have to deal with a young neighbor who overdoses on drugs and becomes the target of his dealer.

Ep 18: Log 124 -- Airport

Malloy and Reed are rendered powerless when a drunken man with no flight experience decides to take a solo flight in a stolen airplane at a busy airport. Later, they try to locate a 17-year-old runaway living in a condemned home with a much older man, engage in a shootout with a convenience store robber and search for a booby-trapped bank safe that has been stolen with a tow truck.

Ep 19: Log 94 -- Vengeance

Malloy fears that a boxer who has just been paroled after serving a murder sentence is going to seek revenge against him. Out on patrol, they try to save a man who has been crushed while working under a stolen car, apprehend a liquor store robber who swears revenge against reed, change a flat tire on their patrol car, locate a four-year-old child who locked himself in a refrigerator and become the targets of an ambush.

Ep 20: Log 104 -- The Bomb

Malloy and Reed search for a suspect who frames an employee of a manufacturing plant for theft and then plants a powerful bomb on the premises. They also apprehend two criminals after questioning a suspicious man who is carrying heavy bags down the street, and protect an innocent motorist from a street race that still ends in tragedy.

Ep 21: Log 74 -- Light Duty

Malloy and Reed spend a night shift on desk duty after Malloy breaks his wrist and another office worker calls in sick. With the assistance of a new female recruit, they deal with a homesick elderly woman who refuses to identify herself, help a lenient father bail out his son and become suspicious of a man who walks in looking for a wanted fugitive.

Ep 22: Log 114 -- The Hero

Malloy and Reed witness a young hispanic man save a trapped watchman from a burning warehouse, but become suspicious when he resists numerous attempts of private and public commendation. They also try to prevent a drunken man from falling out a window, and resuscitate a man with a heart condition.

Ep 23: Log 134 -- Child Stealer

Reed has to deal with the consequences of forgetting to roll up the window on the patrol car before he left it. Back on patrol, Malloy and Reed search for an estranged husband who kidnaps his own child, deal with an elderly man who tries to pay for a meal with trading stamps, engage in a shootout with an escaped prisoner caught napping on a city bus and pull over a hijacked delivery van full of booze.

Ep 24: Log 144 -- Bank Robbery

Malloy and Reed are in for a rude awakening when they report to the home of a former professional wrestler on a domestic abuse call. Later, they become suspicious of an apartment burglary victim after they find one of the suspects dead, deal with a man who discovers car parts that were stolen from him installed on another car and become involved in a shootout responding to a bank robbery.

A wealthy businessman openly offers malloy and reed security jobs at three times their current salaries if reed agrees to withhold damaging testimony against his troubled son. In the meantime, they have to deal with an elderly man who has strangled his ch

Malloy and Reed track down a young shoplifter who escapes custody and hides at the lair of an eccentric spiritualist whom she worships.

Ep 1: Log 174 -- Loan Sharks

While investigating the severe beating of a factory worker, Reed and Malloy uncover an extensive loansharking operation.

Ep 2: Log 35 -- Easy, Bare Rider

Malloy and Reed investigate the mysterious source behind a boy's suspicious spending spree, wield a blanket instead of gun during a disrobed driver's DUI arrest and bust up a car parts theft ring.

Ep 3: Log 95 -- Purse Snatcher

Reed and Malloy have to think outside the box to capture an intelligent yet neglected teenage purse snatcher. Their efforts to talk sense into him before he commits a much more serious crime prove to be futile.

Ep 4: Log 45 -- Bright Boy

Reed and Malloy report to a burglary call that was witnessed by a boy with a photographic memory. Afterward, they are called to the scene of two drunk men shooting at a box of dynamite at close range in a residential area.

Ep 5: Log 65 -- Cigarettes, Cars and Wild, Wild Women

Reed and Malloy help take down a chop-shop that employs cute girls in mini-skirts to steal cars from trusting men. They also arrest a young man who grows pot and holds parties in the home of his unsuspecting shut-in aunt.

Ep 6: Log 55 -- Missing Child

After responding to a gas leak in a home, reed and malloy search for a missing child. Finally, they investigate an attempted car theft that ended with a fatal shooting.

Ep 7: Log 75 -- Have a Nice Weekend

The shift starts with Reed being taken hostage by a woman out of her mind. Malloy and Reed are faced with multiple reports of burglaries and the thieves appear to be young boys. After a couple interviews, Malloy picks up on the fact that the victims are all supposed to be playing bridge and it points to one family.

Ep 8: Log 105 -- Elegy for a Pig

Officer Malloy pays tribute to Officer Tom Porter, who has recently fallen in the line of duty. Malloy recounts the close friendship they developed while training at the academy, as well as the moments where they crossed paths on duty, including the night of the officer's unfortunate demise.

Ep 9: Log 25 -- Indians

Malloy and reed hunt down a suspect who has been bombing downtown storefronts. Then they report to a scuffle between two native americans at a bar that the bartender thinks may be a prelude to something a lot more serious.

Ep 10: Log 135 -- Arson

In what would prove to be a very busy shift, Malloy and Reed search for a serial arsonist who spawns a copycat, settle a domestic dispute that results from a love triangle, rescue a man who wandered onto the ledge of a high rise and deal with a mentally ill man who is holding his wife at knife-point.

Ep 11: Log 46 -- Pilgrimage

It's Christmas Eve in Los Angeles, and Malloy and Reed track down a suspect who beat and mugged a rescue mission Santa, who later gets arrested himself. They also respond to an alcohol-related traffic accident that resulted in a fatality, help a penniless widow who has been detained for shoplifting and take part in the search for a young Native American child who wandered off into a mountainous area while her parents were asleep.

Ep 12: Log 85 -- Sign of the Twins

Malloy and Reed start the shift with a call to a liquor store robbery, where a fellow officer was shot but the owner of the store appears to be lying. Further investigation pushes the owner to admit one of the thieves was his brother and he was trying to protect him. In the meantime, they have a zoning issue with an elderly astrology reader followed by the report of a young boy asking a pharmacist questions about Seconal pills.

Ep 13: Log 175 -- Con Artists

Reed and Malloy respond to a car rollover where a good samaritan makes matters worse. Afterward, they respond to several victims of a well-known family of seasonal home improvement con artists before finally catching them in the act. In the meantime, they search for a disgruntled ex-employee who is trying to sabotage his former workplace, and take a drunk driver off the street.

Ep 14: Log 115 -- Gang War

Officer Reed loses a robbery suspect while in foot pursuit. Afterward, he and Malloy try to help a priest prevent bloodshed between rival hispanic gangs, and then respond to a battered wife whose husband is very familiar to the officers.

Ep 15: Log 26 -- LEMRAS

Malloy and Reed drive up on a convenience store robbery in progress, which results in the suspects taking hostages. Later, they pull over a reckless driver who has just committed a heinous crime, learn about a new computer system designed to help them be more productive and finally thwart a group of serial burglars who use motorcycles.

Ep 16: Log 155 -- I.A.D.

Officer Tony Johnson finds out he has been accused of a shakedown just after saving Malloy's life during a shootout. Reed and Malloy set out to find a bar girl named Ginger who Johnson says will prove his innocence, but her story leaves Malloy with an uneasy feeling.

Ep 17: Log 66 -- The Vandals

Reed and Malloy have a gun pulled on them after stopping a car that turns out to be stolen, but the contents of the trunk link the two suspects to an even more sinister crime. Afterward, a recently widowed father and his teenage daughter report that their home has just been toilet papered, which ends up being a prelude for a much more serious incident.

Ep 18: Log 36 -- Man Between

Officer Reed, who is an optimist and still has faith in the human race, is subjected to ridicule from Officer Wells after he is swindled twice. On patrol, he and Malloy come to the aid of a woman whose baby has been kidnapped by a heavily armed man seeking a large ransom. Afterward, wells once again questions Reed's judgment during the search for an intoxicated sniper at large.

Ep 19: Log 165 -- Once a Cop

The search for a stabbing suspect leads to a bitter ex-cop who has just moved into the area. Afterward, Malloy and Reed deal with a naive and frustrated starlet who shoots up a telephone booth and loses her suitcase containing a live rattle snake. The officers then become involved in shootout at a train station that leads to another unfortunate run-in with the ex-cop.

Ep 20: Log 76 -- The Militants

Malloy and Reed participate in the search for two black militants who ambush and critically wound two officers in their patrol car. When one of the suspects subsequently dies in custody, a bitter public relations battle begins with the militant group as the search for the other suspect continues.

Ep 21: Log 164 -- The Poachers

A young employee at the city garage steals a patrol car and engages in a high speed pursuit. Afterward, Malloy and Reed arrest a young woman trying to cash an old-age benefits check she found on the ground, report to an apartment complex garage that had its security camera stolen, investigate a break-in at a mortuary and arrest a couple of pill pushers at a warehouse in Officer Ed Well's territory.

Ep 22: Log 16 -- Child in Danger

Malloy and Reed are called to a tavern robbery in progress, and then are jolted by a severe domestic abuse situation they are powerless to stop. In the meantime, they lose track of a naive college girl who has just been carjacked by a convicted rapist.

Ep 23: Log 56 -- Vice Versa

Because Malloy has allowed his driver's license to expire, Reed has to do the driving on today's busy patrol. They search for an ice cream truck driver who's been trying to sell marijuana to children, get an unexpected reaction from a bank robber, help a man who's had his house completely emptied by his neighbors, deal with a woman who shoots her husband dead and find a live baby in a trashcan.

Ep 24: Log 106 -- Post Time

After beginning the search for a well known suspect who just stole a 600-pound offset printing press, Reed and Malloy try to convince an 85-year-old man to leave the soon-to-be demolished apartment building where he's resided alone for 27 years. Afterward, they pull over a very unusual vehicle, and chase a delivery truck to the end of an unfinished bridge.

Ep 25: Log 88 -- Reason to Run

Malloy and Reed are called to a riding stable run by retired actor Slim Berkeley. The owner is careless about trusting people and has $100 and a gold belt buckle stolen. Because of a criminal record in New York his young assistant runs, but when searched nothing is found. A call to a phone booth where the man inside is being attacked leads to a drug arrest and sore jaw for Reed. Reed spots a robbery at a drive-in resulting in a shoot-out.

Ep 26: Log 125 -- Safe Job

There's been a rash of cracked safes in the area, and Malloy thinks the suspect is someone who lives in the neighborhood who now claims to be a reformed family man. In the meantime, he and Reed track down a female robbery suspect, who turns out to be a victim herself.

Ep 1: Extortion

Malloy stares down the barrel of a rifle during the search for gloved robbers who are able to make off with $500 from a tavern in a stolen car. He and Reed also try to apprehend a group of anti-semites before their repeated shakedown attempts cause further damage to a defiant Holocaust survivor.

Ep 2: Million Dollar Buff

Malloy and Reed have a run-in with a suspected professional jewel thief and fear she will walk due to lack of evidence. They also find themselves in competition with a millionaire vigilante, who provides assistance with apprehending a drunk driver and ending a shootout, but seems destined to soon overstep the law.

Ep 3: The Grandmothers

Malloy and Reed are on the lookout for a hype who robbed a hand-made craft store run by elderly women, only to later return the money after robbing an antique store. In the meantime, they engage in a high-speed pursuit, and pull over a priest in possession of marijuana.

Ep 4: The Radical

At roll call, Malloy and Reed are asked to look out for a suspected militant and, after spotting him, attempt to follow him to his stash of weapons. Malloy also is asked by a security guard to investigate a possible shakedown and smuggling operation.

Ep 5: The Search

Malloy and Reed report to a robbery at a grocery store, where Malloy is required to engage in a high-speed pursuit with one of the suspects while Reed apprehends the other on foot. When Malloy is seriously injured in a rollover accident at a remote location and loses two-way radio communication, Reed and others from the department race against the clock to locate him.

Ep 6: The Ferret

Malloy and Reed are on the lookout for an environmentalist known as "The Ferret" who has been posing as an employee to infiltrate and sabotage industrial complexes he feels are creating too much pollution. In the meantime, they respond to a woman who is nearly comatose and ultimately gives birth to a stillborn baby. They then investigate the witchdoctor who has been convincing her and other women that eating clay will ensure a successful pregnancy.

Ep 7: Truant

After apprehending a couple of juvenile delinquents who are ransacking a house, Reed is inspired to submit an idea on how to deal with truants, which ultimately gets implemented on a trial basis by the captain, but draws the ire of Officer Wells. Back on patrol, they apprehend a couple of high-level drug dealers who run into bad luck, and nearly get run over by two men using stolen automobile parts to build a high-powered go cart.

Ep 8: Ambush

Malloy and Reed are ambushed by two men who want to silence the prisoner they are transporting from Malibu to Los Angeles. Their problems are compounded by the lack of radio communication in Malibu Canyon, which ultimately results in Reed being taken hostage.

Ep 9: Anniversary

Malloy and Reed brainstorm what to get Sgt. MacDonald for his anniversary, subdue an understandably belligerent wrestler in a bar and get followed by a man with a recent streak of bad luck. Elsewhere on patrol, they search for an armed robber who shot an over-trusting shopkeeper, and respond to a call of an unusual armed robbery at a drive-in.

Ep 15: Pressure Point

Officer Woods' new partner is a nervous and quiet recruit, and the embarrassing secret he's trying to keep from his fellow officers might actually imperil them. On today's patrol, a real estate broker's well meaning but poorly thought out gesture nearly leads to a mob scene, a drug store owner discovers a way to profit from armed robbers and an armed robbery suspect opens fire during his escape attempt.

Ep 16: Lady's Night

On today's patrol, Malloy and Reed try to corral cattle that are wandering into the downtown area, pull over a speeding bicyclist, chase down a man with a stolen guitar and break up a bar fight. After their shift is over, Reed and his wife witness a gas station holdup on their way to dinner with Malloy and his girlfriend.

Ep 17: Citizen with a Gun

Officer Wells appears to have met his match with a new partner who always insists on doing things his own way. Today's shift features a hot-headed husband who's decided he needs a gun to protect his home, and a neglected girl who causes a scare while playing.

Ep 18: Follow Up

Reed thinks he's got a great deal lined up on a used boat, but Malloy's convinced there's something fishy going on. While on patrol, they search for a man who sold a stolen horse to a riding academy, use an informant's tip to investigate a suspicious restaurant parking lot attendant and face an accusation of stealing a socialite's diamond ring during a burglary investigation.

Ep 19: Suicide

Malloy and Reed are on the lookout for a traveling business man driving a green pinto, who called his wife in Nebraska and told her he was going to commit suicide at 2 PM. Meanwhile, they search for a woman who abandoned her newborn baby in a garbage can, and get a tip from an elderly woman about a group of car strippers.

Ep 20: Operation Action

On his way to an auto mechanic, Malloy is ambushed and kidnapped by a group of drug runners who plan to use him to secure the release of one of their associates.

Ep 21: Gus Corbin

Malloy is asked to fill in for Sgt. MacDonald, leaving Reed to partner with a young probationary officer who lets his judgment be clouded by his constant need to prove himself. On patrol, they search for a purse snatcher inside a church, encounter a burglary in progress at a closed pharmaceutical company and search for an armed robbery suspect in a lumber yard.

Ep 22: Dana Hall

As Malloy continues his fill-in assignment for Sgt. MacDonald, Reed is paired with the department's first female officer, which presents both of them with a series of unique challenges. On patrol, they detain an underage drunk driver with a dismissive mother, search a parking garage for car strippers and help round up a large group of young people causing trouble outside a rock concert.

Ep 23: Something Worth Dying For: Part 1

After a well known hype is released because of a lack of probable cause, Reed decides to temporarily join the narcotics squad to hone his skills. The demands of the assignment quickly take their toll on him personally, and his worst fears are realized when Malloy assists in a narcotics bust.

Ep 24: Something Worth Dying For: Part 2

Malloy recovers from his gunshot wound and returns to patrol with Reed, where they investigate a suspicious burglary call at a school for women, and confront a pair of armed intruders in a warehouse full of mannequins. Meanwhile, Reed contemplates taking the investigator's exam as he prepares to give a speech in acceptance of the medal of valor for saving Malloy's life.
